One of the questions everyone wonder who is the fastest in the world of rugby? From legends like Lomu to todays Habana.
Who is the worlds the fastest, listed is each players time and there source. Lets get to the bottom of this popular question!
Note: Most of the times are not recorded recently which makes who is the fastest a large speculation game. There is more to rugby then just speed like acceleration, balance, vision, anticipation, instincts, endurance, psychology and many other elements.
#1 Fastest Rugby Player Toderai Chavanga
10.27 seconds 100m
400m Zimbabwe previous record holder.
Team: Springboks, South Africa
During the Super 14 last year i remember him out-pacing Rococoko and in the video Sivavatu gives up! Hope to see more of this guy, he still has along way to go to prove himself but holds great promise.
Videos:
- Sivavatu giving up, quite unbelievable. Sivavatu is as fast or if not faster then Rokocoko
- 6 try Debut for the springboks tho against Uruguay.

#2nd Fastest Rupeni Caucau (2nd Best Wing) FIJI

100m Unknown
Time is unknown but he is the fastest person my eyes have seen on the rugby field. Speed wasn’t his only attribute he showed up world class player and running through whole team like no one else. I rate Caucau the best winger better then Lomu its too bad we never saw his full potential.
My opinion definately the best player to grace the field better then Lomu.
Video:
- Instincts stopping BOD
- Rupeni running through France in the world cup
- Speed strength only Caucau would score
- Embarassing a wallaby and 3 defenders then toying with Tiquiri
- Embarassing wallaby Rathbone who runs 40m in 4.6 and Brumbies team in jogging mode.
- 3 tries vs Crusaders tearing them apart himself
#3 Brian Habana Springboks (Best winger currently)
10.4 seconds 100m

“Habana weighs 14 stone and is 5ft 11in but can bench-press 25 stone.” The best wing in the game at the moment.

#5 Joe Rokocoko NZ All Blacks
10.66 100m
“he can run 40m in just 4.66 seconds! He’s even faster than his fellow team-mate and winger Doug Howlett, and he can run the 100m in 10.66!”
Source: BBC Sport
Rokocoko is featured in alot of videos on youtube.
Video:
#6 Doug Howlett NZ All Blacks

William Ryder
Fastest player in Rugby Sevens for Fiji. He could be faster then Toderai Chavanga. Theres plenty more of him on youtube.

Jason Robinson, England
I’ve added a dedicated area for Jason Robinson he might not be the fastest over 100m. He’s definitely one of the most dangerous players in 40m and fastest over 10m allowing him to always beat his man.

Fastest: William Ryder (my opinion)
Jason Robinson, England

Caucau, Fiji
Who do you think’s the fastest? Have your say?
If you have any times with sources and speed of the players post it as a comment and i will add it on the web page.

Rory underwood must not be forgotten. Of the mark was lightening. Would never see him our paced by anyone. Remember lions 93 second test? And he was not in the pro error
Ugo Monye should be on there with 10.6 seconds in 100m
you wont really ever fine a player having to run over 60 meters only on rare occations, soo you should be seeing how fast they are over 60m, then u will be looking at players like shane williams who is one of the fastest over the 60 ever, also rupeni caucau..
What about Nigel Walker of Wales (and I’m English). He may not have been the best rugby player but was an Olympic Finalist in the Sprint Hurdles. He had a 100m PB of 10.35 secs. He came back into Rugby as an older man(29) and still seemed to have an extra gear. He scored a great 100metre solo effort for Cardiff. He embarrassed N’tamack of France in the Five Nations one year, and he was no slouch. N’tamack was dropped from thr team as a result.
Bred Stapleton (Australia): 10.27 sec 100m
you forgot to add mikaele pesamino he’s faster than habana he runs the 100m in 10.3 seconds…
Rupeni Caucaunibuca.
Fastest and BEST rugby player of all time
Fiji Repersent
this whole post is a joke man. lomu never ran a 10.8 howlett never ran 10.68.
the fastest official time by a rugby player is 10.57 by chavanga. nobody else has even got a confirmed 100m time below 11 seconds
dude i can gaurantee you that ngwenya can consistantly run below 10.8 , but chivhanga is still the fastest. habana in his dreams, what ever happened to that bobo guy from fiji
Yea sireli Bobo is his name, i used to like him when he played NPC and Hurricanes. He was amazingly fast with his strides.
It’s a well known fact Lomu holds his High School record of 10.8, if you don’t agree, go to his school and ask them. Ngwenya is in a similar state, but right now he is the only player I’ve ever seen outpace Habana, the man who legit ran 10.4 and rumored to have run 10.2something. So it’s possible Ngwenya is in the 10.3-0
Do some research on players before you assert some random nonsense because you can’t match these guys in speed
Actually Pesamino ran the 100 metres in 99.9 seconds. FACT.
wat r u guys talking about.Im the fastest guy in rugby clocking 10secs flat.we’ll…if i played rugby.hahahahaha.
Ummmmm………… Did U Think of Tom Varndell He Said He Gets A time of 10.5sec or 10.6 all the time its the one with the man vs car one
Roger Baird from Scotland. 100m & 200m champion……rugby OK but room for improvement. Kenny Logan was pretty quick in his day too.
i wud very much put Marika Vunibaka Former Crusade’s Winger, Former Fiji Seven’s Captain, caucau is known for his bullet pace..but check dis one out.. check out YouTube – Marika Vunibaka Canterbury Crusaders Super12…Marika Vunibaka hauling in Rua Tipoki from 15-20m behind

Solid work and much success in your business efforts!
SAMoa
Yall should look up alesana tuilagi and henry tuilagi!!! the biggest,
powerest wing in the world of rugby!!
I really don’t think Caucau should be on this list. He’s a great stepper and amazing wing. His best asset isn’t outright pace though. Also, I did see him mowed down by lock Dave Duley in a game he played for Northland against Waikato.
[...] іѕ a article thаt mау hеƖр уου ԁесіԁе [...]
im sorry but ryder is not the fastest in one video a white south african would of out run him if it was longer. Robinson is the most effected. if he played 7s he would run around everyone.
Tom varndell is definately one of the fastest players in england!
the guy thats name samoa dont talk shit, straight up dis is serious ok
caucau is the fastest and vunibuca cant run
under 10 seconds he probably runs late 10s
im samoan so cause chalanga whatever how you spell it he runs 10.27 in 100 and your true about henry tuilagi he can bench 250 kgs and he repped it pretty easy.
Hello everybody. Perhaps I break your dialoge. I can run easyly 40m in 5 seconds. I am 25 years old. I want to play rugby but i live in spain and i dont know if it is a good mark for thinking about playing rugby seriously. What can you tell me. Thank you all
Ups! This is about videogames. hahahhaha
didnt pesamino get 9.93 seconds,, lol, straight up guys believe it or not.. go the manu.
john sleightholme was the fastest man ive seen…quicker than underwoods..alledgedly a 10.2 man…no step though
nah rupeni caucau he was in the fijian sprinting team when he was little and he ran 10.15 seconds than he brang to new zealand to play rugby for northland and he had the meanest step. he it when he wasd about 18 years old.
hey masaga cant do 10.5 in 100 metres his only fast over 30 to 50 metres his slow in 100 metres.and all of use are gay faggots
hahahahaha and all of use have small dicks
hahahahaha and all of your mums suck me off.
How Bout Shane Williams!! Hes Is Fast Asss
you’re missing pesamino or lightining.. The fasteset runner in the irb.
Pesamino is totally unmatched. From Samoa makes me proud. Rupeni is nothing. He’s the past and pesamino is the present. C’mon he’s nicked name for Lightning!!
All the players like habana, rupeni or rokopopo are all in the past.. Pesamino roxxx!! keep that in mind. I’ve seen him train to improve his 100m time and i tell you, i can’t wait to see him take it to the 9sec’s…. Samoa Roxx
the fastest ever?.. rupeni caucau..that guy was never even running at full
speed, just see a try he scored for agen against toulon, probably one of the few
times he ever runs at full speed but 3 wings you can put behind him in order is
chavangha, habana and varndell..these guys were super quick and ryder was probably the fastest over 40 metres but not 100. he would probably clock 10.8 in 100m and pesamino is definitely the fastest samoan international but the fastest samoan currently who is playing for the AB’s is Masaga who i believe can do under 10.5. caucau, if running at full speed could possibly clock 10 seconds flat and only other player that am close to caucau in his prime was marika vunibaka who could also do under 10.1 seconds in his early days
I doubt Masaga can do 10.5. Rocopops does around 10.60 and howletter 10.7 from memory. Soseni Anesi is the fastest out of them all with Joe admitting it.
Anesi was the fastest sevens player he’s by by NZ sevens coach tjetjin?, still doesn’t make him better then Howletter or Joe.
heyyy all of use just make shit up to try and talk the players up so the onlything is
just dont comment if use dont know.
and habana runs only under 11 seconds he even said it when he versed the cheetah in 100 metres. he runs 10.8 or 7s and that neguenwa guy runs 10.34
hhahahaha yeah yup..hez fast..he did wel in college..welldone Pesa..MAY GOD BLESS TO AL OF YOU GUYZ..the manu samoa sevens..
:o
